October 2025: Electric Car Sales Figures & Analysis including Telangana

Summary
- EV Sales continue to consolidate in the 18k-20k range. Retail sales grew 9% MoM and 67% YoY
Launch of XEV 9S, Sierra, and eVitara should bring the next push in EV sales
Brand-by-brand sales trend
Mass Market OEMs
- Tata - Nexon and Harrier continue to push Tata sales. Tata needs to revisit Cruvv because it is struggling to generate volume.
- MG - Windsor continues to be the best-selling EV in the country. But MG should come up with another launch; the market is ripe for it
- Mahindra - Had best month till date with all variants deliveries in full swing
- Kia - They overtook Hyundai with a more expensive car, just because they are the only affordable 7-seater EV option in the country
- Hyundai - They are struggling, and they need to revisit the prices of the Creta. It is a competent car.
- Vinfast - They are doing well, given the fact that these are all organic sales
Premium Market OEMs
- BYD continues to do steady volumes for their price point.
- BMW iX1 continues to sell well, but they are losing a bit of steam.
- Tesla volumes dropped MoM, I think it is because they have showrooms only in Delhi and Mumbai.
- Mercedes, Volvo, and Audi continue to struggle.

@VahanWarta October is always the month for car buyers. GST cuts did play a role. But EVs maintained their usual trend which is nice to see.
Yup. Short term boost in demand due to GST 2.0
In Oct’25, EV share in passenger vehicle retail stood at 3.24% (vs 2.29% YoY) roughly 18K EVs on road. Festive season lifted all segments, though ICE & CNG grabbed a larger slice this time. Momentum steady, long-term story intact. 🔋🇮🇳
